White Cliffs Beer of the Festival award presentation

Thursday 21st April 2011

Bob Thompson

At the White Cliffs Winter Beer Festival each year there is a Beer of the Festival award. It is given to the beer that sells out first, so it's a real peoples' choice. At the festival, held in February, this accolade went to Green Daemon (5.0%), an organic lager produced by Hop Daemon brewery at Newnham. The Dover CAMRA branch hired a minibus and they duly picked us up en route; Brewery owner, Tonie Prins, was on hand to meet us and guide us towards beers he had provided on stillage in the cold room. We had about an hour of sampling and then Dave Green, on behalf of the organisers, presented Tonie (on the left) with the award. As well as beer, Tonie provided his visitors with snacks to soak it up, which was greatly appreciated. As this was a normal working day we were able to watch casks being washed and others being filled with amber nectar. Our thanks go to Tonie and the Dover CAMRA branch for arranging such a pleasant visit.
