Pub Visit - Germany

Lemke Schloss 1 BuildingMonday 29th November 2010

Bob Thompson

This is the Charlottenburg outlet of Lemke. When I first visited a few years ago it was called Luisenbräu as it is on Luisenplatz, opposite one of the entrances to the Charlottenburg Palace. It was opened in 1987. Since then it has since been renamed, and the beers have been improving in quality, now being just as good as those from the original Lemke brewery in the centre of the city.

The range is the same as that pub, thus Original, Pils, Wheat and a seasonal beer. I'm not a great lover of wheat beer but I'm sure theirs is good. The remainder are really excellent, totally recommended. Befitting its location, the interior of this brewpub is very palatial. Over the road, the real palace is a bit older, being built in the early 1700s for Friedrich III of Prussia.
