Pub Visit - USA/Canada

Thursday 30th June 2011

Yaletown 1 BuildingBob Thompson

I alighted from the Skytrain at Yaletown-Roundhouse station. This brewpub in Mainland Street is only five minutes from that station. It certainly looks impressive at its street corner location with a nice-looking outside terrace. I entered and found a place at the bar.

Despite the fact that it was early afternoon and the place was empty, it took ages to get served. In fact, if this wasn't the only chance I'd get to try their beer, I would have just upped and left.

Yaletown 2 BarWhen I asked if they did taster trays I received an abrupt "no", yet I'm sure they did. I had a pint of IPA which was OK. I really didn't like the place and that was in addition to the poor service. Did I go at the wrong time/ day/ year/ century?

For the record, the full beer list was Brick & Beam IPA, Helmsken Black & Tan, Mainland Lager, Nagila Pale Ale, Downtown Brown, Warehouse Stout, Hills Special Wheat and a seasonal, Cassiopeia Wit.

This brewpub has only got itself into BeerVisits because I can't believe that it is this bad all the time. A second opinion is sorely needed. Another bad review and it is dropped.
