Situated in the area known as Tally Ho Corner, North Finchley is The Bohemia, which appears to have been at one time a large shop unit and at one point had become an O’Neills.
London Brewing Company, which had started out at the Bull, Highgate, having decided they were limited by capacity there, acquired the High Road property and moved their operation here in 2014 and have just celebrated the 10th Anniversary here.
At the front are a few tables before entering through one of the doors into a large fairly cavernous area. Ahead to the left is a long bar, and to the rear right is the brewing area, which is self-contained, but viewable and allows the visitor to enjoy the smells of brewing in action.
In the middle of the room are some stairs leading down to further seating and this area can be used for events and private hire. To the rear on the left is the kitchen , stairs up to the toilets and steps down to access the rear garden area.
Behind the middle of the bar is a large blackboard listing the current draught offerings, which are mainly their own brews together with some external offerings together with ciders.
The blackboard also includes beer style, price, ABV and where appropriate bitterness indication (IBU). There are also beer menus on the tables listing the full range of drinks available, including bottles. There are also food menus placed at the tables.
Cask own brews available during the visit were Top Pocket (5.2%), London Lush (3.9%), Beer Street (4%), 100 Oysters (4.5%) and own brew Keg Swizzle (3%), Gigglemug (4.9%), Upright (4%), Beano! (6.2%), Rhapsody (4.2%), All Ripe (3.4%).
Flights of 3 x 1/3 beer paddles are available if you wish to ample as many as possible. Prices are varied and may be increased if there is a special event on. All beers are Vegan apart from the Oyster Stout.
Several CAMRA awards are displayed above the blackboard and CAMRA discount on Cask was offered. There was a spare handpump which can be used for guest ales.
Also on draught were Verdant Light Bulb (4.5%), Estrella (4.6%), Stiegl Lager (4.9%, Stiegl Wheat Beer (5.1%) plus Ciders – Sandford Devon Dry (5%), Celtic Marches Slack Alice (6%), Celtic Marches Clear (3.4%), Celtic Marches Lily the Pink (5.2%), Seacider Blood Orange (4%), Celtic Marches Vintage (6%).
