Bob Thompson
This pub is on a corner at Krugerstrasse 18 and Schwarzenbergstrasse 2. It's no distance from Stadtbrauerei Schwarzenberg, just walk around the corner. The name presumably comes from the date of the laying down of the Bavarian pure beer law, the Reinheitsgebot, to which the brewery's beer adhere to.
Its theme is American and there are a vast number of TVs in the bar, so it's a good place to watch football (Association not North American). The menu is definitely stateside however. They even do a Thanksgiving dinner on the appropriate day in November.
The beer selection is also influenced, but not totally. It appears that there is only one regular beer, the rest are specials, which are repeated often. The regular beer is 1516 Lager, pleasant enough.
The remainder, on the occasion of my visit, were Saphir Pils, Sierra Amber, Spillner Dunkles, Quinoa Weisse, Victory Hop Devil IPA. The latter is a copy of a beer brewed by the Victory Brewing Co of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, USA. The original is 6.7% abv, so I assume the Viennese version must be similar. They also serve 1516 Cloudy Cider.
This pub closes very late in the early morning, so you can have an extended night out and still drink decent beer.
