Using Brauhaus Mitte at Alexanderplatz as a central point, about ten minutes walk away is this brewpub at Spreeufer on the bank of the River Spree, close to Museum Island and the business area.
This pub is definitely not a local's local and I'm not sure what to make of it.
It has a massive terrace, capable of accommodating 400 seated. It looks good from the outside and is very comfortable inside. But that's the best it gets.
On my visit the staff communicated badly with the customers and, as a result, service was poor. It seems that it is visited by people who don't go to pubs normally.
It looks great but there is no atmosphere and the beers aren't up to much. There are two; Hell is unfiltered Pils with medium hopping. The Dunkel was very strange, having a vineous aroma and an unpleasant taste.
Yet, I might have just gone on the wrong night. Further opinions are most welcome.
Important Information:
Gastätte Georgbrau, Spreeufer 4, Berlin-Mitte 10178. Tel: 030 242 4244
Open: Daily 12.00-23.00
There are many ways of getting here but the ten minute stroll from Alexanderplatz is probably the best.
