Around the corner from Beulahland there's this Art Deco cinema at 2735 East Burnside Street. It's a classic with a small bar with a few booths in the foyer and was built in 1923 during the silent film era. The draught beer selection, although mostly local, I thought, was extremely diverse. To accompany your film-watching you could have Widmer Hefeweizen, Sierra Nevada IPA, Lucky Labrador Superdog Double IPA, Full Sale Amber Ale, Bridgeport Kingpin Double Red Ale, Mount Hood Oatmeal Stout and two from Ninkasi, Radiant Pale Ale and Total Domination IPA. Finally, they had Woodchuck Amber Cider.
There's even a Popcorn and Beer deal that saves you a dollar on the already cheap entrance price.
Important Information:
The Laurelhurst Theater, 2735 E Burnside Street, Portland OR. 97214. Tel: 503 232 5511
Open: As most films are shown in the evening at varying times from 17.30 onwards I assume the bar opens a bit earlier. More information on this would be gratefully received.
The theater is to be found at the junction of E Burnside Street and 28th Avenue.
No 20 bus to and from the city centre runs along E Burnside Street.
