Pub Visit - USA/Canada

The rain had stopped as I made the five minute, five block, walk south to this pub at 915 SE Hawthorne Boulevard. I have visited this excellent pub before but, I called in as it would be wrong to pass it by whilst in the district.

Like most of Portland's brewpubs it is big. Service is at the bar, UK style.

A very impressive beer menu was displayed offering Papa Paul's Pilsner, Triple Threat IPA, Byron's Pale, Cascade IPA, Got Hops?, Belgian Triple, Hellraiser ESB, Super Dog, Crazy Ludwig's Alt, Black Lab Stout, Killa Amarilla IPA, and finally Hawthorne's Best Bitter. A selection of styles to suit all, with the emphasis on ales.

I had a sampler tray of all of the bitters and IPAs, along with the stout, which was for a very good reason.

I washed this lot down with a pint of Black Lab Stout from the cask. Absolutely beautiful! In a comparison test with the keg version it comes out well in front, being much tastier and having more body.

A bit of a contradiction and don't they know that dogs can't read anyhow. Any Labrador wishing to enter this establishment will discover they are not so lucky!
